QuickField's proprietary technology — the Geometric Decomposition Method™ — overcomes the main drawbacks of conventional finite element analysis, delivering an extremely efficient simulation tool. The Geometric Decomposition Method achieves several goals at once: it optimizes the mesh distribution in a very short time, producing a smooth transition from coarse to fine mesh sizes, and it provides the domain decomposition needed for an efficient preconditioned conjugate gradient method. The solving algorithm is remarkably stable, able to handle the ill-conditioned matrices produced by highly non-uniform meshes and varying material properties.
