QIs there a limit on mesh size?

AThe full version has no artificially imposed mesh size limit — the practical size depends on your computer's specifications. In the official benchmark, a 2D problem with a ten-million-element mesh takes about 4 minutes to mesh and 12 minutes to solve on an ordinary workstation.

QHow can I get high-accuracy simulation results?

AResult accuracy depends on several factors, but in most cases mesh quality and the distance to the outer boundary matter most. The examples in our example library each include a comparison against an analytical solution or a standard reference value.

QWhat factors affect solving speed?

ASolving speed depends on your computer's specifications, the material properties, and the size and quality of the mesh. QuickField's solver is extremely fast — see “FEA Solver” on this site for details.

QHow do I build a good mesh?

AA good mesh should be fine enough, with element sizes matched to the geometry and physical features, smooth transitions, and as few distorted elements as possible — but it also shouldn't be needlessly large, since that accumulates computational error. QuickField offers several ways to control the mesh, including manual, automatic and iterative refinement.

QCan QuickField take advantage of a multi-core processor?

AThe parametric analysis tool LabelMover can launch multiple QuickField sessions in parallel.

QWhat material data is included with the package?

AQuickField's material library includes some material properties for reference only, with no guarantee of accuracy. See “Material Data Library” on this site for details.

QWhat platforms can QuickField run on?

AQuickField is a native Windows application. To run it on other platforms, you can use a Windows virtual machine or compatibility layer — for example, Parallels Desktop on a Mac, or Wine on Linux.

QHow do I purchase QuickField?
